In this episode, Dr. David Hanscom talks with Dr. Serena Sterling, who trained in clinical psychology and is a certified life coach, about the evolution of her approach to treating chronic pain. She describes a neuro-emotional technique which uses signals from the body to help determine what feelings are being suppressed that might be at the root of the patient’s chronic pain. She also shares her story of healing from disabling chronic fatigue after personally witnessing the traumatic events of 9/11.

Serena Sterling earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, is a certified life coach, and has learned a number of mind-body stress reduction modalities to help people with physical and emotional pain feel better fast. Although she specializes in helping people with chronic pain and medically unexplained symptoms, she also helps athletes recover from injuries and overcome sports performance issues. She sees people in person in Portland, Oregon, and also sees people remotely all over the world. She is the author of Pain: A Love Story and her website is drserenasteling.com.
