The accessibility of sanitary products has come to the fore this week, with Lidl's announcement that they would be the first shop in the world to provide pads and tampons for free.

Also in the past two weeks, Cllrs in Waterford passed a motion unanimously for period products to be made available in public buildings for free.

But why is this important? And, is there still a stigma when it comes to talking about periods?
