As for the servant/slave thing. During most of Genesis the word is used as a figure of speech in Hebrew used to lower your class, so translating it as servant might actually be the better translation. Although there were some times in 44 where they jumped back and forth between the meanings. Reading it in Hebrew was so confusing. Of course, later own, there're plenty of time it actually means slave and they'll still translate it to servant.

I can't believe it. I have a Tanakh test next week and there're 4 chapters I need to learn on my own. So I was like, I'll read the chapters im Hebrew and then listen to the podcast again if you're got there yet, since sometimes I learn more from listening to this podcast. Amazingly, the chapters I need are 42-45.

They totally had corn in Egypt, in the british sense of the word which means any grain (in the case, probably wheat). What they didn't had was maize, that is called corn in the US ^^

They mention the donkeys are female because in Hebrew the word for a male donkey(mostly translated as just donkey) is חמור(hamor) , and for female donkey it's אתון (aton). These are not the same words, so the translation in this verse specifies the female donkeys.
