As a teen, he was a member of Little Richard’s band and shared the stage with legends like Jimi Hendrix and Elvis Presley
Those collaborations include Elton John, Billy Preston (the 5th Beatle), Eric Burdon, George Harrison, Sly Stone, Bill Withers, Pacific Gas & Electric, the Stairsteps, Natalie Cole and America.
He was also the 1st Musical guest on Saturday Night Live (SNL) in October 1975 with Billy Preston
