Breaking: Box Office Records, Feminism Misconceptions and Glass Ceilings

Seen as a milestone for many feminists, Wonder Woman just smashed box office expectations with the biggest domestic opening of a film directed by a woman (Patty Jenkins) earning $100.5 million in revenue. Furthermore, the film itself has saved the day for DC Comics after it's disappointing response to the release of it's counterpart, Batman vs. Superman.

Wonder Woman is flexing new muscles in Hollywood
For the first time, audiences for this superhero film were predominantly WOMEN... in a movie genre that typically caters to men. In other words, being a superhero is no longer just a male fantasy. Women want in on the action and they aren't waiting to be invited.

Thank you, Hollywood, for leading the way!

Permission to Embrace Your Inner Superheroine
One of the most revolutionary things about Wonder Woman is how the film is in direct parallel to the realities that we are living in today's society. The character of Diana Prince has increased the status of the feminist icon; indestructible in her values, never being set back by passionate sentiments, and is fighting the patriarchal power struggle with an unwavering love of humanity.

This Isn't Your Mother's Feminism
Forget everything you THINK you know about modern feminism. The time for being angry is over. This is not political, it's personal.

This does not look like any other time in history. We may have risen up with fierce tenacity, but women heroines are showing up with the greatest super power of all: LOVE, as opposed to fear. Don't look now, but the feminist movement is being redefined by both women AND men who see the value in combining our unique viewpoints of the world and are clear in their vision for a better tomorrow.

On Today's Show
I'm bringing on a real life superheroine of today's generation, Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin, who is currently demonstrating unbelievable strength in leadership and mountains of progress in her forward movement to lift women up in global unity. Elizabeth has become a beacon of light and a modern icon during one of the most unnerving times in our history. Thanks to her, women across the country (myself included) are finding their true potential and rising up in activism.
Today, I am honored to interview Elizabeth Cronise McLaughlin, the woman behind the cape.
