Slash told him to start a band. This was while Jimmy was a 35-year-old bartender. Since then he has opened shows for Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators (including upcoming at the Whiskey), Steel Panther, and new record was produced by Gilby Clarke.
