Ontario has announced a number of proposed changes coming out of the housing affordability report and will be tabling legislation. They have not dealt with the most controversial recommendations but it is a start. Clearly designed to engender some votes but we will take it, Bill 109, More Homes for Everyone Act, 2022. Based on consultations with the public, municipalities, and the Housing Affordability Task Force, all of which echoed that the approvals process, duplication, red tape, and inefficiencies need to be addressed to assist with housing supply and the escalating costs of new housing.
