It's a new week and that means a new conversation with writer-producer-director, Robert Meyer Burnett.

On this ROADTRIPPIN' podcast, I ask Rob about a show we both loved growing up in the late 60s and early 70s ... UFO (and Space: 1999). The Jerry Anderson classics were the ultimate in groovy sci-fi fare.

Between moonbase girls with metallic everything - mini-skirts, hairdos, and who-knows-what ... and that awesome SkyFighter submarine that could launch an interceptor to blast an invading alien spacecraft - it was pure awesomeness.

I'm still geeking out over it.

Can you believe that Rob and our buddy Bill Hunt actually pitched a new UFO television show to ITV (the original broadcasters)? Rob provides the inside skinny and we discuss how a modern-ish UFO would be accepted today.

In a perfect case of "one-thing-leads-to-another," our theoretical conversation about the international cast that would be employed in a modern take on UFO led to a larger conversation about the practice of "Diversity Casting" and when it's appropriate (and there are plenty of times when it IS appropriate, folks). This then led us to the other main subject of today's podcast ...

Kamala Khan and Ms. Marvel (streaming soon on Disney+). I don't really know all that much about the character - a young, Muslim girl of Pakistani heritage who gets imbued with superpowers and adopts the "Marvel" name. But, honestly, the show looks delightfully fun and I'm looking forward to watching it.

Rob filled me in on the way Ms. Marvel will probably tie in with Monica Rambeau's character and Captain Marvel in the 2023 MCU film, THE MARVELS (which, technically, is the sequel to Brie Larson's CAPTAIN MARVEL). So, put me down for that movie, too.

So much good conversation, I don't want to spoil it all in the description - so listen to the podcast (it's only 40 minutes long, or so) and tune back in tomorrow for more ROADTRIPPIN'.

See you then.

I invite you to listen in on my weekday conversations with my friend and business partner, Robert Meyer Burnett, as we talk about the things we love: great movies, inspiring television programming, nostalgic genre entertainment, and pop culture.
