There are no cows left on Oregon’s Pine Creek Ranch, but there is barbed wire fence. Later this spring, a federal land swap is expected to be finalized, and part of the historic ranch land will become federally protected Wilderness.
Backcountry volunteers have been working against that deadline to remove the derelict fence left behind - before Wilderness restrictions make an arduous task even more difficult.
