The Doc Edge Film Festival starts on Friday, and will be based online due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The festival is exclusive to New Zealand audiences and communities across the country.
Editor of flicks.co.nz Steve Newall told Andrew Dickens it will run like a normal film festival.
"There's a schedule of films in the program, there's 83 features and shorts collectively.
"They have premiere times and the titles are available for a 36 hour period after they go live, so the ideas should kind of make you feel like it's still a festival."
Meanwhile, cinemas are beginning to reopen again.
However, Mr Newall said there is not much product for people to watch at the moment, but cinemas should restock in July.
