Teens believe smoking cigarettes is worse than smoking marijuana.
CensusAtSchool asked nearly 3000 Year 11 to 13 students how wrong it is for someone their age to drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes, e-cigarettes and cannabis.
Co-director Rachel Cunliffe told Andrew Dickens 61 per cent felt smoking tobacco was very wrong but 52 per cent felt the same about marijuana.
She says they were also asked what their parents might think.
“81 per cent believe their parents would think it'd be wrong to smoke, but only a third would think drinking alcohol is bad.”
Cunliffe says it's the first time they have asked these questions.
She says they wanted something more topical, especially because there will be a referendum on cannabis next year.
