It's not just the Super Fund already showing an interest in the Auckland light rail proposal.
Today, the Government announced a plan to build two light rail networks in Auckland.
It's put up $1.6 billion of the estimated six billion dollar price tag, and is seeking private investment for the rest.
The Super Fund has made an offer to create an international consortium to build, own, and operate two new lines proposed for the city.
Transport Minister Phil Twyford told Larry Williams he's been told informally other companies are already interested in tendering.
"This would be New Zealand's transport infrastructure project ever. I suspect they'd be a lot of interest."
NZTA will begin a procurement process and open up the call for interested parties, including the Super Fund.
However, not everyone is a fan of the plan.
Auckland councillor told Larry Williams that's the advice he's gotten from experts overseas is that light rail is mass transit, not rapid transit.
Lee says it's ridiculous how the biggest transport investment in the country's history will be on two lines in one city.
"Who's gonna benefit? Some suburbs. Those sorts of investments should benefit the whole country."
