Otago University has proposed to fine students who have let rubbish outside their flats get out of control.
It would be a daily fine, with the university saying the rubbish impacts the safety and wellbeing of students.
Michaela Waite-Harvey, President of the Otago University Students' Association, spoke with Heather du Plessis- Allan.
“It’s really that off-campus aspect that really irritates students because it is just oversight of our personal lives that we largely don’t believe the university has any say in.”
