It's up to the public to decide if Sandra Goudie should stay or go.
The Thames-Coromandel mayor doesn't want Pfizer's Covid-19 jab and has recently spoken to an Australian anti-vaccination group.
A code of conduct complaint's been made against her, but the district council says the matter has been resolved informally.
Governance New Zealand vice president, Julie Hardaker told Mike Hosking the Local Government Minister could intervene if there were serious issues with the council as a whole, but not just the mayor.
“The role of councillors, they’re elected people, they govern for three years, the public decide who they want and so they continue in those roles until such time that the public decide that they don’t want them.”
