National hasn't given up on its housing accord with Labour.
The Housing Supply Bill, put forward by Labour and National to allow greater intensification in urban centres, is expected to get its second reading in Parliament this afternoon.
Christopher Luxon says National has been seeking changes to the bill, following feedback from councils and resident groups.
But ultimately, he told Mike Hosking, New Zealand needs to accept greater housing density, so more New Zealanders can own their own homes.
Luxon's Deputy, Nicola Willis, was an architect of the original bill.
“You want people in their homes, you want people owning homes because when they do, they actually care about the community they are a part of, they care about their local government, they care about their services, their schools. They get involved; they get engaged.”
