***This episode is sponsored by Podcorn. Head over to podcorn.com right now, to begin monetising your podcast*** The term ‘serial killer’ didn’t exist in the 1970s, and It wasn’t until the mid to late 70s that the term serial killer came into existence, founded by Robert Ressler, an FBI agent with the Behavioural Analysis Unit. Despite the term not being used massively and only just coming into recognition in the 70s, that doesn’t mean to say that there weren’t lots of active serial killers in the 70s. Charles Manson formed the Manson family in 1967 and was convicted in 1971, the Son of Sam was active between 1976 and 1977, the Hillside Strangler was active between 1977 and 1978, John Wayne Gacy who is also known as the killer clown was active 1972-1978 and then we have Ted Bundy, who was active between 1974-1978.
