Hey Benjamin, if I were consulting for a school district, I'd always begin with planning best practices for all. A 10-minute podcast, though, is aimed at building awareness about a problem and sparking conversations like these, so it's a bit limited in its scope. I'd argue that the discussion should neither begin or end in the classroom or at the admin level. Rather, it should be a conversation involving representatives from all levels and including all stakeholders. Thanks for listening and weighing in.

Beginning the discussion with technology usually misses the point. If students are (or are not) using technology, the discussion should begin with the planning, implementation, and assessment of the classroom (educative) experience in order to provide context. Then, a discussion about tech. makes sense. I am equally uncomfortable about saying, "cell phones should always be used in the class" as I am about saying, "cell phones should never be used in class". Also, the discussion should at the classroom level and below, and not at the school level and above.
