What is it with this monogamy thing? It sure seems to be difficult for many humans to pull off. Is it natural or just some kind of social norm humans dreamed up one night to keep everyone in line? Some people say it is unnatural and goes against everything in nature. However, many people will point to other animals that will be in lifelong monogamous relationships. So what is the deal with this monogamy thing? Right now you’re thinking, it sure would be extraordinary if a professor would study monogamy, non-monogamy and casual sex to give us solid evidence-based science on this matter once and for all. Lucky for all of you, I found this incredible person so you can stop looking and just sit back and listen.

On our show today we interview Dr. Zhana Vrangolova, a New York City based sex researcher, writer and educator. She is currently an adjunct professor at the NYU Psychology department where she teaches the first Human Sexuality course the department has offered in a long long time. She writes about the science of casual sex and non-monogamy on Psychology Today, has a podcast called “The Science of Sex,” and does educational workshops about casual sex and non-monogamy. She provides an awesome daily tweet about fun new sex research which can be found @DrZhana. She wrote an eye opening book called “The Casual Sex Project” that you can go buy on Amazon right now. Dr. Zhana has a very interesting perspective and knowledge on monogamy, non-monogamy and casual sex that will benefit all of us greatly. I can’t wait!
