In the news we hear about breast cancer, prostate cancer and pancreatic cancer on a daily basis. But the largest cancer killer of people in the world is lung cancer. Research confirms lung cancer kills more people than all of the other cancers combined!

Prevention of lung cancer is easy. According to doctors, healthcare professionals, nutritionists and more not smoking is the best way of not getting lung cancer. Avoiding second hand smoke is another way of preventing lung cancer. If a friend asks if he or she can light up, say no. Tobacco is associated with 95 percent of all lung cancer cases.

Early detection of the disease is the second best way of living. Having more options to treat the problem, the better patients have of living. Advanced lung cancer is more difficult to treat.

The good news about lung cancer is newer treatments are available with a higher rate of success than ever before. New minimally invasive "cutting edge” techniques now reduce time in the hospital as well as recuperation.

Lung cancer was once viewed as a death sentence. With newer treatments and techniques this is no longer the case. Again, early detection is the answer. Better than early detection is not to smoke.

Vaping or e-cigs is the new introduction to tobacco, according to some health authorities including Tobacco Free California. Vaping is popular with young adults in their 20s. Many e-cigs users think e-cigs to be just water vapor. The chemicals creating popular vape flavors are carcinogenic and may cause "popcorn lung". The water vapor and chemicals mixture is then inhaled.
