•Officer Paul Verna’s was killed in the line of duty June 2, 1983, in Lake View Terrace. That is not in dispute. What is, however, is who pulled the trigger. Both Kenneth Earl Gay and a co-defendant, Raynard Cummings, were passengers in the stolen car stopped by Verna. The California Supreme Court decided unanimously to overturn a Gay's conviction. The L.A. District Attorney's office must decide by December 14th if prosecutors will re-file the case.
