The Future

On Today's show Karel talk's The Future, Pride and what you should be doing now. From those topics, the Future and Pride, let's start with the Future. Is there one? It's so easy right now to feel nothing but gloom when looking ahead. But that's not going to build anything except darkness.  And what is the possibility of a future if things stay the way they are unchecked? I think everyone knows the answer to that: none.

What must you and I do before we can build this future? The same thing those caught up in racism and hatred need to do: deal with their grief. Oh yes, one group of Americans are in grief from 1865 on. It was then they lost  the right to own people, to behave any way they want unchecked. And it was then that they had to become part of a team. They simply haven't worked through the grief yet. And what of many of us? We have lost our lives, truly. Everything around us is forever changed. Have we truly dealt with the grief ? Have we reconciled there's not going back, only things to move towards? And can we do that with past baggage?

We find out in this segment.

Pride, Not So Much

This was a big year for gay pride, but it's been an even bigger year for Black Lives Matter and Covid19. Many in the community felt "robbed" or that someone or some thing was trying to "stop" pride, so they started the "You Can't Stop Pride Campaigns." But did they miss the point of Pride. After all, wasn't the first Gay Pride a riot, after all? So, perhaps this is the time to refocus pride, to rethink pride and to step back and let some other voices be heard right about now. The Future of Pride is as uncertain as any other right now, so why not write a new one where it goes back to being about gaining equality for all and not resting, or celebrating, until there are real victories for everyone in the LGBT community? Karel poses that question here as he explains why he didn't celebrate Pride this year, but what he did instead.
