On July 14, 2021, Rose Long Face (Little Hawk), Lucy Take the Tail (Pretty Eagle), and Dennis Strikes First (Blue Tomahawk) were among nine Sioux children being taken on a 1,400 mile journey home from Carlisle, PA to Sioux City and the starting point of their removal from Lakota homelands more than 142 years ago.

Kicking Bear and Grey Owl, according to Dr. Lajimodiere's stats, there were no schools in Connecticut or Florida. I visited Carlisle in June and put flowers on the graves of many of the children there.

There were changes to the Indian Act in 1950 that increased children being taken. I believe part of my family "going undercover" and leaving Michigan was my Dad protecting my brother and me from this fate.

"Our Spirits Don't Speak English: Indian Boarding School" by Rich-Heape Films shows the history, generational trauma, and impacts of Indian boarding school practices. While there are a few who had good experiences in Boarding school (because they didn't fight assimilation), the majority have PTSD. No matter what, it was cultural, spiritual, and physical genocide of Indigenous CHILDREN. #WEWERECHILDREN.

Are not the residential schools, 60's scoop, and the baby scoop all separate atrocities, that were done in Canada although overlapping.
