Welcome to Day 1650 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me.This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to WisdomCarrying A Heavy Load – Daily WisdomWelcome to Wisdom-Trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. We are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16andversion=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! We are on Day 1650 of our Trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget:
Today’s quote is from a Croft M. Pentz, and it is: A chip on the shoulder is the heaviest load you can carry.
Carrying A Heavy Load
There is no heavier load that you can carry in this world than a load of unforgiveness, anger, and bitterness. These are the three components that make up the chip that you carry on your shoulder. If you have a chip on your shoulder, it means you feel angry because someone mistreated you, holding a grudge.
This phrase originated in the USA in the 1800s. It refers to a practice where people who were looking for a physical fight would place a chip of wood on their shoulders, challenging others to knock it off. A chip on your shoulder is a metaphor which means that you are habitually negative, combative, or have a hostile attitude, usually because of a deep resentment or long-held grievance.
Having this type of attitude is no way to live, especially as Christ-followers. Anger and resentment is a heavy burden that hurts others and damages the person who is carrying them. It will cause physical, emotional, and spiritual damage that will eventually destroy the person who bears the burden. So instead of daring someone else to knock the chip off your shoulder, please take it in your hand and throw it into the deepest sea. Forgive others if necessary, and put the past behind you. Each day is a new day to impact others positively as we continue to build God’s kingdom.

Jesus’s half-brother James puts it this way in https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James%201%3A19%2D21andversion=NLT (James 1:19-21) Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.
As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.’
