Long Beach is known for its vibrant arts community and beautiful expressions of public art prevalent all over the City. These days, residents are concerned about the defacing of public art murals and as the City begins the march toward economic recovery, arts advocates are busy preaching the sermons of preservation of the arts, particularly public art. It is against this backdrop that we are talking to a panel of arts professionals to examine the struggles facing Public Art in the City of Long Beach. We are talking history and the need for restoration and conservation. Arts is an essential service in our communities.
