To those with a religious background unity may seem like some weird spiritual concept- but it's actually something that we can understand without getting into all the spiritual mumbo jumbo. Unity means that everything is connected. We are all one with each other, and at the same time separate from everyone else- and this allows us to see that everything is connected in some way. For example: if I put my hand in a fire, I will naturally pull it out- not because I just really don't like pain) but because I understand that if my hand stays in the fire, it will eventually go up in flames.
