📖1 Juan 2:3‭-‬17 RVA2015:
En esto sabemos que nosotros lo hemos conocido: en que guardamos sus mandamientos. El que dice: “Yo lo conozco” y no guarda sus mandamientos es mentiroso y la verdad no está en él. Pero en el que guarda su palabra, en este verdaderamente el amor de Dios ha sido perfeccionado. Por esto sabemos que estamos en él. El que dice que permanece en él debe andar como él anduvo. Amados, no les escribo un mandamiento nuevo sino el mandamiento antiguo que tenían desde el principio. El mandamiento antiguo es la palabra que han oído. Otra vez les escribo un mandamiento nuevo, que es verdadero en él y en ustedes, porque las tinieblas van pasando y la luz verdadera ya está alumbrando. El que dice que está en la luz y odia a su hermano, está en tinieblas todavía. El que ama a su hermano permanece en la luz y en él no hay tropiezo. Pero el que odia a su hermano está en tinieblas y anda en tinieblas; y no sabe a dónde va porque las tinieblas le han cegado los ojos. Les escribo a ustedes, hijitos, porque los pecados de ustedes han sido perdonados por causa de su nombre. Les escribo a ustedes, padres, porque han conocido al que es desde el principio. Les escribo a ustedes, jóvenes, porque han vencido al maligno. Les he escrito a ustedes, niñitos, porque han conocido al Padre. Les he escrito a ustedes, padres, porque han conocido al que es desde el principio. Les he escrito a ustedes, jóvenes, porque son fuertes, y la palabra de Dios permanece en ustedes, y han vencido al maligno. No amen al mundo ni las cosas que están en el mundo. Si alguno ama al mundo, el amor del Padre no está en él porque todo lo que hay en el mundo —los deseos de la carne, los deseos de los ojos y la soberbia de la vida— no proviene del Padre sino del mundo. Y el mundo está pasando y sus deseos; pero el que hace la voluntad de Dios permanece para siempre.


En este capítulo el apóstol continúa enseñando la relación que hay entre el amor de Dios que le profesamos con nuestro comportamiento hacia nuestro prójimo. No podemos decir que somos cristianos teniendo odio, resentimiento o envidia contra nuestro prójimo.

Me gusta mucho leer la forma en que el apóstol se refiere a cada miembro de la familia, elogiándolos por su fe firme y su madurez espiritual. De forma general, primero se dirige a todos los hermanos en Cristo, felicitándolos porque sus pecados han sido perdonados por el nombre de Jesús.
A los padres los felicita porque han conocido al Dios que los llamó a su reino eterno, reconociendo que la fe en Cristo Jesús no es otra sino la misma fe pero entendiendo que Jesús es el Señor y Dios. Que Jesús es la manifestación visible de la deidad de Dios.
También felicita a los jóvenes porque son un grupo de jóvenes victoriosos que han vencido las tentaciones por el nombre de Jesús, a diferencia de lo que pensamos a veces sobre los jóvenes que son débiles y apáticos a las cosas de Dios. Esa generación de jóvenes de las iglesias de la época de Juan eran jóvenes guerreros espirituales que conocían las tácticas de Satanás y sabían vencerlo conociendo bien las Escrituras que es la Palabra de Dios.
Por eso la advertencia es clara: No podemos amar a Dios y al mundo a la misma vez.

Estas palabras de ánimo las repite dos veces el apóstol Juan, queriendo afirmar que estaban por el camino correcto y que no permitieran que nada ni nadie les engañara para alejarse de ese caminar con Cristo tan firme y victorioso que ellos llevaban.
Tengamos cuidado con las diferentes clases de deseos terrenales, que son los deseos de los ojos, los deseos de la carne y las vanidades que son cosas temporales, que no permanecen ni traen ningún beneficio al alma.

🤔Consideremos:
¿Están todos los miembros de nuestra familia practicando el verdadero amor de Dios?
¿Estamos guardando nuestro corazón de enojos y resentimiento?
¿Estamos guardando nuestros ojos y deseos contra las atracciones pecaminosas de este mundo?

August 19: Words of praise for the whole family.

1 John 2:3-17:
Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning. Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.
He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
I write to you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for His name’s sake.
I write to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the wicked one.
I write to you, little children, because you have known the Father.
I have written to you, fathers, because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one.
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.


In this chapter the apostle continues to teach the relationship between the love of God that we profess for him and our behavior towards our neighbor. We cannot say that we are Christians having hatred, resentment or envy against our neighbor.

I really enjoy reading the way the apostle refers to each member of the family, praising them for their steadfast faith and spiritual maturity. In general, he first addresses all the brothers in Christ, congratulating them because their sins have been forgiven through the name of Jesus.
He congratulates the parents because they have known the God who called them to His eternal kingdom, recognizing that faith in Jesus Christ is none other than the same faith but understanding that Jesus is the Lord and God. That Jesus is the visible manifestation of the deity of God.
He also congratulates the young people because they are a group of victorious young people who have overcome the temptations for the name of Jesus, unlike what we sometimes think about young people who are weak and apathetic to the things of God. That generation of young people from the churches of John's time were young spiritual warriors who knew the tactics of Satan and they knew how to overcome him by knowing well the Scriptures, which is the Word of God.
That is why the warning is clear: We cannot love God and the world at the same time.

These words of encouragement are repeated twice by the apostle John, wanting to affirm that they were on the right path and that they would not allow anything or anyone to deceive them to get away from that steadfast and victorious walk with Christ that they carried.
Let us beware of the different kinds of earthly desires, which are the desires of the eyes, the desires of the flesh and the vanities that are temporary things that don't remain or bring any benefit to the soul.

Let's consider:
Are all members of our family practicing God's true love?
Are we guarding our hearts from anger and resentment?
Are we guarding our eyes and desires against the sinful attractions of this world?
