Mentre andavo dal verduraio ho trovato un libro, sì l'ho letteralmente trovato sul bordo di un davanzale, era messo insieme ad altri libri, evidentemente chi ce li aveva a casa non li voleva buttare, gli sembrava brutto, però non sapeva che farsene a casa. E uno di cui si è tirato la mia attenzione perché avevo una copertina molto antica, io non resisto al fascino delle cose antiche, quindi l'ho preso in mano ed è un vecchio libro di scuola degli anni sessanta, adesso non ho guardato esattamente di che anno sia, ce l'ho in mano adesso, lo guardo insieme a voi, è del 1964 ed è "Guida alle applicazioni tecniche femminili". Ora io ricordo molto bene quando ero bambina il fascino che questi libri esercitavano su di me quando ne trovavo qualcuno a casa, ed erano pieni di lavoretti per le bambine. È un libro per la prima media, ho fatto il calcolo quindi una ragazzina di 11 anni, veniva dato a questa bambina il libro e lei dovevo usarlo a scuola per fare le cose di 'attività domestiche' voglio giusto leggervi le prime tre righe con cui si apre questo libro: "Tu che mi leggi non sei più una bimba: i tuoi sogni si protendono ormai verso un avvenire di donna, già in te corpo e anima acquistano caratteri nuovi veramente femminili." Io a leggere queste cose qua, mi vengono i brividi! E dentro è pieno dei 'lavoretti', come rivestire una bottiglia con i pezzettini di stoffa, come fare dei quadretti, come aggiustare il cavo del ferro da stiro quando si rompe, come fare dei semplici capi di vestiario, dei grembiuli, delle gonnelline, come prendere le misure, come riconoscere le verdure quando sono cattive, come caricare la macchina da cucire, fino a 'organizzazione della visita ad una ad una azienda', insomma, veramente un manuale di alta tecnologia per le bambine undicenni che sarebbero diventate poi le donne del futuro, perché si sa che dietro ad ogni uomo che lavora in ufficio, che fa un duro lavoro, dietro c'è sempre una donna che tiene la casa pulita, e soprattutto il cavo del ferro da stiro sempre in ordine, e compra la verdura e la frutta buona per una famiglia che fa crescere poi sana, e che diventa partecipe della società. Sì, questo libro suscita in me un misto di nostalgia, rabbia, ironia, non lo so neanch'io. Però almeno mi fa capire che un po di strada l'abbiamo, fatta almeno in superficie.

And one of those caught my attention because it had a very old cover, I can't resist the charm of old things, so I picked it up and it's an old school book from the sixties, now I haven't exactly looked at it, what year it is, I have it in my hand now, I look at it with you, it is from 1964 and it is titled "Guide to female technical applications". Now I remember very well when I was a child, the fascination these books had on me when I found one at home, they were full of activities for the girls. It is a book for the sixth grade, I did the calculation so an 11 year old girl, this little girl was given the book and she had to use it at school to learn 'domestic activities'. I just want to read the first three lines opening this book: "You who read me are no longer a child: your dreams are now reaching out towards a future as a woman, already in you body and soul acquire new characteristics, truly feminine." When I read these things here, it gives me chills! And inside the book it is full of 'activities', such as lining a bottle with small pieces of cloth, how to make small picture frames, how to fix the iron cable when it breaks, how to make simple items of clothing, aprons, skirts, how to take the measures, how to recognize vegetables when they are bad, how to load the sewing machine, up to 'organizing a visit to a company', in short, truly a high-tech manual for eleven-year-old girls who would later become the women of the future, because we know that behind every man who works in the office, who does hard work, there is always a woman who keeps the house clean, and above all the iron cable always in order, and buys good vegetables and fruit for the family to keep them healthy, so that they become participants in society. Yes, this book arouses in me a mixture of nostalgia, anger, irony, I'm not completely sure myself. But at least it makes me understand that we have improved a little bit, at least on surface.
