Recently, and against a backdrop of immigration agency SEF's ongoing and awkward transformation, the Portuguese government's recent proposals on how to solve the country's housing problems have caused uncertainty at best and fuelled anti-foreigner sentiments at worst.

Whichever way this is seen, it seems confidence in Portugal - as a place to make a new home - has been shaken for some would-be expats and migrants.
