Next year’s proposed Brazos County budget includes a property tax increase of one and a quarter cents. County judge Duane Peters said it's the first increase since before 2015.

Peters was the only member of the commissioners court to speak during or after his presentation and the commission's unanimous votes that set the proposed tax rate and public hearings.

The public hearing for the tax rate is August 27th and public hearings on the county's budget are on the 27th and September 3rd.
