I like to call Enneagram 1s the ‘sheriff in town.’ Driven by a need to be good, these Reformers or Perfectionists have a strong sense of right and wrong and are prone to black and white thinking.

But the Enneagram 1s instinctual subtype drastically changes the way their 1-ness is expressed.

So, what differentiates a self-preservation Enneagram 1 from a one-on-one or social 1? And how does understanding the subtypes help us lead the 1s in our lives more effectively?

On this episode of The Leadership Formula, I walk you through the three subtypes of the Enneagram 1, explaining why self-preservation 1s are true perfectionists with a strong inner critic and heightened sense of responsibility.

I discuss why one-on-one 1s feel entitled to reform people to their way of doing things, describing how their outgoing anger differentiates them from other Enneagram 1s.

Listen in to understand how social 1s focus energy on working toward the shared purpose of a group and learn what skills make social Enneagram 1s role models for living our beliefs and values.
