Ian is back in the studio today, looking back over this weekend's draft. It was a good weekend in a lot of ways for the Hawks, but a story that got overshadowed a bit is a report suggesting that Doug Baldwin might be retiring. One of the greatest receivers in the history of the franchise, and one of the best in the game now, it's a sad loss for the team if he does indeed end his career, but he will undoubtedly do great things after football. One major takeaway from this weekend is to always expected the unexpected with Carroll and Schneider calling the shots. A week ago we were sitting here with four draft picks, and ended up with elevin. They took a guy in LJ Collier that no one expected in the first round. They even traded into the seventh round after their last pick, which no one does. With so many teams making picks that look horrible at this point, we're lucky to have the group at the VMAC making these decisions. One move Ian is a little confused about is taking two linebackers. With so many on the roster now, was this really the smartest move?
