Welcome to This Edition of RiversZen Today for Tuesday, December 4th, 2018

The news of the day: The best way to survive the holiday season is . . . wait for it . . . stress relief, right! But, how do you do that with all there is to do and so little time? The most effective stress reliever within your own power is your breath. You hear us in class instructing you to breathe. Each breath activates the diaphragm and engages the power of that process. Engaging the diaphragm induces a natural sedative. But you need to continue that process on and off the mat. Try it. The next time you feel a tad stressed, take the time to breathe. As you breathe become aware of that breath; scan your body and sense where you are feeling your stress, allowing each breath to bring relaxation to that area and throughout your body. That simple process actually qualifies as a meditation. Don’t fret about the concept. Meditation does not need to be done in a special place with special music or instruction. You don’t need to clear your mind of all thoughts. It can be done anywhere at any time, alone or in a crowd. No one needs to know you are meditating. It is that simple, and so effective.
