Welcome to This Edition of RiversZen Today for Thursday, January 24th, 2019

The news of the day: What are your goals when coming to class? Are you looking for relief of pain? Increased range of motion? Weight loss? Improved strength? Stress relief? Improved balance? Or some other reason? It helps us create a more effective class if you share with us what you are looking to experience. Our members range in age from teenagers to eighty plus years. That is exciting for us. As we develop our body awareness and connect with what we need to keep our body working well mechanically, we need to continue to be mindful of what it is able to do. There are certain life skills we need to maintain for as long as we live. For example, getting up and down from the floor. That accomplishment can be a challenge at any age. That was one of the reasons we started on the path that ultimately created RiversZen. In our 50’s the various tasks of getting in and out of the car, up and down from the floor and climbing stairs were getting to be a painful experience for us, especially Dave. We walked miles every day with ease, but these tasks were a painful challenge. Many times we are not even aware a skill has become a challenge as our daily life does not require us to do the same things all the time. As you go through your day, be aware of minor challenges before they become big ones. Start watching in class as we begin sharing some techniques to insure you stay limber and prepared for whatever life presents you. If there is a task you would like to fine tune let us know what it is.
