Welcome to This Edition of RiversZen Today for Monday, November 19th, 2018

The news of the day: It’s Thanksgiving week. This year is certainly rushing by. Its so easy to rush through the holidays and not even think about the meaning. Take the time to realize those things in your life for which you have good reason to be thankful. It is so easy to dwell on the negative . . . those things which may be a disappointment; those things which may be sad or painful. As we review the happenings of this year, so many dreadful things have happened between weather and fires; shootings and bombings; political upheaval; the list can go on. Dwelling on those issues, though a part of our reality, won’t feed our spirit. The negatives often can’t be ignored and must be addressed; but we need to seek out those positives in each of our lives to reflect and be thankful . . . those moments will give you the energy to keep you grounded and directed. As I type this, I see the moon out our west facing window . . . bright, singular, not quite full. I never cease to enjoy where we live . . . even when I hated the heat of Arizona so many years ago, I never questioned the beauty of the area; even now when I may tire of our rainy season, I never doubt the importance of that rain for the overall health of our great Pacific Northwest. You don’t need to have perfection to find the positive. Find the features which are good and treasure those. Throughout the week we will share how being thankful can present itself in all that we do and help give us perspective.

Feel free to share your reasons for being thankful. It might help someone who is having a tough time. You can post your comments on Facebook at RiversZen Online Community, email us at info@riverszen.com or text or call us at 503-440-3554.
