Gabe’s Journey

In this special podcast, Chris Augdahl, the father of West Catholic High School senior Gabe Augdahl, appears on the "Sports Project Radio Show," hosted by the Professor, Steve Project (Feb. 18, 2023).

On the show, Chris talks about a fundraiser and awareness night (Feb. 17) to support the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation in honor of Gabe. The night brought the community together with a special "Faith Over Fear" T-shirt sale, as well as other activities. The goal was to raise $5,000, but has now pushed to $15,000-plus after the game.

"It's overwhelming. We're humbled, too," Chris said on the show. "It turned into a big event, above and beyhond what we expected."

In the podcast, Chris talked about how the tumor was first diagnosed, and how the family is dealing with it.

The high school basketball player was diagnosed in the summer of 2021. A Desmoid tumor is a very rare soft tissue tumor. Only 5 million people a year are diagnosed. Make a donation at donate.dtrf.org.
