Becoming - Real Mean Pour In, Raising Women to Be Men, Angelina Reacts to TD Jakes Comment About the Modern Day Black Woman
In this episode of Becoming with Angelina Watkins, Angelina addresses TD Jakes comment about “We are raising our women to be men.” Is that a fair and accurate statement?
Well, this statement has the black culture upset with TD Jakes, the black church, and men. It has appeared that TD Jakes is blaming the woman for the break down in the family because of her attitude. And he is ignoring the fact that the woman is independent and doesn’t need a man because the men have left us to fin for ourselves and the children.
What about the man? What about what they aren’t doing? How does the blame go on just the woman.
In this episode, Angelina gives her thoughts on the matter. There are some things in the sermon that TD Jakes said that were accurate and some things taken out of context because people only heard a snippet. She attempts to shed some insight, give some perspective, and hopefully calm a few tempers.
