In this episode we continue studying the Book of Genesis. In this episode, Joseph's brothers return to Egypt.

Jacob finally agreed to let Benjamin go with them. He intially told his sons to go without him, but Judah said, "No, the man said, we wouldn't see his face if he's not with us. Let him go before we and our little one's die"

Jacob agreed and said, "Go, take your brother also. If I'm bereaved of my children I am bereaved."

He was bereaved of Joseph, now he was prepared to be bereaved of Benjamin. At times, he lived as if God had forsaken him. He was scarred to let Benjamin out of his sight because he was afraid something bad would happen to him.

Parents and children share a tightly woven bond and if something happens to one or the other they may lose faith in God.

Jesus saw this and made note of it in John chapter 4. When a Nobleman came to him whose son was sick and about to die.

Jesus knew if his son died he would not believe he was the Christ. He had enough faith to come to him to ask for healing, but if his son died that was it, he would lose any hope or faith in him.

When the man came to him Jesus said. "Except you see signs and wonders you will not believe." And the man said, "Sir come down with me or my son will die."

Jesus said, "Go your son lives." The text says, the man and his whole house then believed he was the Christ.

Jesus knows how hard it is to lose someone we love, he knows how it disturbs our faith. He knows how it affects our minds and breaks our hearts.

We see in the account about Jacob and Sons that He provided a remedy for our lack of faith in these times.

Jacob's sons took Joseph's coat and ripped it, they tore it in half and at the same time they ripped and tore their fathers faith in half, it was torn asunder.

His sons also killed a lamb and covered the coat with the lamb's blood.

In this we see that Jacob’s torn and ripped up faith was covered by the blood of the lamb.

God’s grace would cover Jacob's lack of faith, he understands our weaknesses and doesn’t charge us with wrong doing when we loose hope and faith when we go through trials.

The blood of Jesus cover’s our weak faith.

During those times his grace is sufficient for us, during those times he bears with our infirmities.

Mounce says, infirmity means, want of strength, weakness, feebleness, bodily infirmity, state of ill health, sickness, frailty, imperfection, intellectual and moral.

By the grace of God all of our moral and intellectual weaknesses are covered and atoned for until we come into the knowledge of the truth.

All of Jacob's sons are on a journey to discover the truth about God and themselves. When they arrive in Egypt, Jospeh can't help but to weep when he see's Benjamin. And he continued to ask was his father well, was he still alive, he was concerned because Jacob was 130 years old.

The chapter closes with the brothers having a meal together. They still don't know who he is but the God of their fathers is with them working everything out for their good.

2 Corinthians 1:2 Grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
