In this episode we continue studying the Book of Genesis. In this episode Sarah died at 127 years old, 37 years after she gave birth to the child of promise.

We note that Peter addressed women in the church saying, they are Sarah's daughters if they do well and are not afraid with any amazement.

Part of doing well, was to follow the example Sarah and the women of old set. He said, they were not known for their outward adorning.

They were not known for fancy hair styles like braided hair, they were not known for wearing gold jewelry or fine apparel. But they were known for their inner adornment, a meek and quiet spirit which is in the sight of God of great price.

Peter also notes that Sarah was not afraid with any amazement. Meaning she was not afraid to do what Abraham asked her to do, when he asked her to tell Pharaoh and Abimelech she was his sister, knowing they could take her to be their wife.

Fear could have caused her to become argumentative, she could have rejected his request and said, I’m not doing that, are you crazy?

She could have been like Queen Vashti and refused to do what he wanted her to do but she didn’t.

She willing travelled with him to Egypt and to the land of the Philistines, telling them what he told her to say.

Paul says, that the account of Hagar, Sarah, Ishamel and Isaac, is an allegory.
that Hagar is Mt. Sinai in Arabia and answereth to Jerusalem, which is now in bondage with her children. Answereth means to correspond or resemble.

Here's the text:

Galatians 4:23  But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.

Galatians 4:24  Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.

Galatians 4:25  For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.

Galatians 4:26  But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.

Notice he said the present Jerusalem, the earthly Jerusalem and their children are in bondage, only the Jerusalem above is free.

Sarah's child of promise, now resembles, those in bondage because they refused to believe that Jesus is the Son of God. They are still waiting on the first coming of the Messiah.

While their mother Sarah, is now a citizen of the Jerusalem above, with her Lord. She is waiting to meet each one of her descendants, all those who believe that Jesus is the Christ.

In Galatians chapter 1 verse 17, Paul said, when he was first called, he did not go to Jerusalem, but to Arabia. He went to Ishmael's land. Did they believe?

Abraham buried his princess that day. But Paul reminds us about a few things about the event called death, in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 starting with 13 through 18.

1Thessalonians 4:13  But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

1Thessalonians 4:14  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

1Thessalonians 4:15  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

1Thessalonians 4:16  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

1Thessalonians 4:17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

1Thessalonians 4:18  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
