In this episode we continue studying the Book of Genesis. In this episode God asked Abraham to offer Isaac as a burnt offering.

Abraham rose the next morning without delay. Isaac was tie up and bound with a rope, and laid on top of the altar. Abraham had the knife in his hand and was ready to cut the throat of his son.

But God said no.

He said, to Abraham, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him.

This account and these very word’s would ring in Isaac’s ears forever, he would share this account with his sons Esau and Jacob.

Jacob would share this account with his 12 sons who would become 12 nations.

Each nations would know without a shadow of doubt that the God of Israel does not require child sacrifice.

Although other nations around them did it but they were not to do it.

The other nations worshipped devils by sacrificing their children to them but they better not do it. Psalms chapter 106 verse 37 says:

Psalms 106:37  Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,

Psalms 106:38  And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.

Psalms 106:39  Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

Psalms 106:40  Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance.

Psalms 106:41  And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.

Psalms 106:42  Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand.

We also note that several times Abraham said, God would provide himself a lamb for the sacrifice. Somehow he believed if God wanted a sacrifice, he would provide it for himself.

He believed, that God provides for man and not man for God.

God relays this fact in Psalms chapter 50 verses 9 through 13. Here's the text:

Psalms 50:9  I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.

Psalms 50:10  For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.

Psalms 50:11  I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.

Psalms 50:12  If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.

Psalms 50:13  Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?

So God was like you aren’t doing me any favors by presenting these offerings. I don’t eat the flesh of bulls nor drink the blood of goats. And if I was hungry I wouldn’t tell you, for everything in the world belongs to me.

Somehow Abraham knew, he would be coming back down the mountain with Isaac. God did not need the life of a child, life came from him. He did not need the blood of a child, he breathed into Adam’s nostrils and blood started flowing.

Perhaps the gods of the people in other lands needed the blood of a child or the flesh of a child but God didn't. He gave life, he wasn't into taking life.

Jesus Christ the head of every principality and power came to save men’s lives not destroy them. Therefore we all live, because God, provided a lamb for himself.
