In this episode we continue studying the Book of Genesis. In this episode God makes a covenant with Abraham, the token of the covenant is circumcision.

Token means a sign or mark. Abraham's seed would carry the sign or mark of the covenant on their bodies. They looked at it every time they went to the restroom or had relations with their mates.

They would submit this part of their body to God. They would not be ruled by it like the people from other nations who served other gods.

They would not worship devils with it under every green tree, producing fruits of unrighteousness. If they submitted this part of their body to God they would inherit the land of Canaan for an everlasting possession.

They would be given detailed laws highlighting the sins other nations committed with this part of their body. If they chose to copy those sins they too would be expelled from the land.

Let's look at Leviticus chapter 18 starting with verse 20 to see some of the things they could not do with this part of their body that is a token of God's covenant with them.

Leviticus 18:20  Moreover thou shalt not lie carnally with thy neighbor's wife, to defile thyself with her.

Leviticus 18:21  And thou shalt not let any of thy seed pass through the fire to Molech, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.

They would not treat the fruit of their body like the people that worshipped devils.

Those that worshipped devils killed their seed also known as the fruit of their body but they were not to do so. The fruit of their body was blessed. They should not destroy what he had blessed.

Deuteronomy 28:4  Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

Deuteronomy 28:11  And the LORD shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

Part of the goods he would bless them with was their children. With these goods they would subdue and plunder the nations that were against them.

Leviticus 18:22  Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Leviticus 18:23  Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

Leviticus 18:24  Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:

Leviticus 18:25  And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.

Leviticus 18:26  Ye shall therefore keep my statutes and my judgments, and shall not commit any of these abominations; neither any of your own nation, nor any stranger that sojourneth among you:

Leviticus 18:27  (For all these abominations have the men of the land done, which were before you, and the land is defiled;)

Leviticus18:28  That the land spue not you out also, when ye defile it, as it spued out the nations that were before you.

Leviticus 18:29  For whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.

Leviticus 18:30  Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

Note he said, they should not commit any of the abominable customs or they would be defiled.

The people of the world those not called by his name, will commit those sins, but his people, those who are called by his name would not commit those sins.

Paul said, in Ephesians chapter 5 verse 3, certain sins should not be named amongst God's people, the sins he mentioned are fornication, all uncleanness, and covetousness, he said, let it not be once named among you as becometh saints.

In 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 4 & 5 he said, every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honor.

They would know how to control themselves and not act like the people who don’t know the Lord.

We also discover circumcision was a symbol of God's ultimate desire for them, he wanted them to have a circumcised heart as noted in Jeremiah chapter 4 verse 4.

Here's the text:

Jeremiah 4:4  Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.

And in Deuteronomy chapter 30 verse 6.

Here's the text:

Deuteronomy 30:6  And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

Paul reminds us in Colossians chapter 2 verses 10 through 15, about the circumcision, we receive in Christ.

Here's the text:

Colossians 2:10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Colossians 2:12  Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Colossians 2:13  And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Colossians 2:14  Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Colossians 2:15  And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Finally in Philippians chapter 3 verse 3 Pauls says, For we are the circumcision which worship God in the Spirit and rejoice in Christ and have no confidence in the flesh.
