In this episode we continue studying the Book of Exodus. In this episode, God passed through the land of Egypt and smote all of their firstborn children with a destroying pestilence.

None of the firstborn children of Israel died because they placed the blood of a lamb upon their doorposts and partook of the passover meal. God said the blood was a token, it was a sign, that would preserve the lives of everyone in the house.

Because when He saw the blood on the house, He made no further judgement call, everyone in the house was saved and the deadly pestilence, did not enter into their home, because it was marked.

Slaying the lamb and applying blood to the door posts to escape the plague of death, had to be done by faith.

Some would think how can eating a lamb and putting blood upon the doorposts keep someone from dying. They had to believe the word of the Lord that Moses spoke.

If they didn’t believe it, and failed to eat the lamb and put blood on their doorposts, their firstborn would die.

Some may think how can believing that Jesus died to forgive my sins save my soul? As demonstrated by the Israelites, it's all about faith. They had to choose to believe the word Moses spoke, it was good news on one hand and a warning on the other.

We must have faith in the written word of God, we must believe that Jesus died to forgive our sins. We must believe that those who fail to accept him as their Lord and savior cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Peter said in 1 Peter chapter 1 verse 9, that the end of faith or the result of faith is the salvation of your soul.

The souls behind the doors of Israelite homes were saved from God's wrath because everyone in the house partook of the sacrificial lamb.

The blood of Jesus, is the only thing that will save us from god’s wrath, it's the only thing God will look for on the day of judgment.

We've been appointed to obtain Salvation but whether we keep the appointment or not depends on us.

1Thessalonians 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Our eternal life depends on partaking of God's sacrificial lamb. Here's the text:

John 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.

Jesus the Lamb of God is also the Word of God. By feeding upon the word and letting it nourish our hearts our faith in God will grow. Our hearts will become softer towards the things of God. It may be hard or bitter in the beginning the Israelites, wanted nothing to do with Moses at first. But he kept on speaking and they kept listening and now they have enough faith to apply the blood to their houses.

When the Egyptians discovered their dead, Pharaoh summoned Moses, and gave him and his people permission to leave Egypt, but before he left, he asked Moses to bless him.

He knew that God honored every word that Moses spoke. And if He spoke a blessing over him he would be blessed. If he blessed him, his kingdom would be restored.

When Job’s friends railed against him, although they were defending Gods name, God said, they were wrong. They had not spoken rightly and his wrath was kindled against them, only to be relieved by a blood sacrifice and Job's intercession for them.

Here’s the text:

Job 42:7 And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.

Job 42:8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.

Job 42:9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the LORD commanded them: the LORD also accepted Job.

Job’s friends were made acceptable to God because of a blood sacrifice and the prayers of a righteous man. We are only found to be pleasing and acceptable to God based upon the sacrificial blood of Jesus the Christ and the prayers of intercession he makes on our behalf, as our high priest.
