Jim Harbaugh has 'really positive feelings' about Bears



Reports are gaining momentum that University of Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is interested in making a return to the NFL. While many have speculated the most logical return would be to the Las Vegas Raiders, where Harbaugh started his coaching career, the Chicago Bears have entered the rumor mill.



On The Rich Eisen Show, The Athletic's Bruce Feldman said, "If he really wants to go back to the NFL, this might be an ideal situation.



"In addition, there's another franchise that he knows very well, that he has some, from what I'm told, some really positive feelings towards people there. And that's in Chicago with the Bears."



After a successful season at Michigan, Harbaugh is the 12th highest paid football coach in the Big Ten despite leading the Wolverines to the College Football Playoff and a statement win beating Ohio State.



But Feldman added he does not think Harbaugh would be motivated by money to make the jump back to the NFL.



"I don't think you know this is this is really a money situation. As much as it is, is the timing ideal? And that's something else," Feldman said. "I mean, you talk to anybody who has coached in college and in the NFL, and they will talk about what a grind being a college coach is because at least in the NFL, you have an off-season."



Harbaugh played quarterback for the Bears for seven seasons after Chicago drafted him in the first round of the 1987 NFL Draft. Feldman noted that Harbaugh began his coaching career with the Raiders in 2003.



But Las Vegas is a threat to nab Harbaugh.



"The Raiders are going to make a run at him as well if they don't keep their interim coach Rich Bisaccia," Kaplan said.



Harbaugh played quarterback for the Bears for seven seasons after Chicago drafted him in the first round of the 1987 NFL Draft. He held a 35-30 record as the starting quarterback.



His 11,567 yards passing is the third best total by a Bears quarterback behind Jay Cutler and Sid Luckman, ahead of Jim McMahon.



And with just one week to play in the 2021 NFL season, a number of head coaching jobs are expected to open. The Raiders and Jaguars currently employ interim head coaches in Rich Bisaccia and Darrell Bevell, respectively, and they could both be looking for a new permanent hire.



The Minnesota Vikings, New York Giants, Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers are other potential Harbaugh suitors if a coaching change is made in 2022.



In seven seasons with the Wolverines, Harbaugh boasts a 61-24 record with just one bowl win in 2015. Prior to that, he had a 44-19-1 record with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014. Harbaugh led the 49ers to Super Bowl XLVII, where they lost to his brother John's Baltimore Ravens.



With 14 years of pro experience as a quarterback with the Bears, Colts, Ravens and Chargers, Harbaugh has no shortage of connection to the NFL. We'll have to wait and see if he is tempted enough to leave his alma mater.

Following a brutal 2020 season that resulted in a 2-4 record and a near 50 percent reduction in pay, Michigan Football head coach Jim Harbaugh appeared to be operating on borrowed time in Ann Arbor. Whether it was the record as an underdog, the record against AP top ten teams, the record against Ohio State or even the record against Michigan State, there were more than enough reasons for fans to be frustrated with the results through Harbaugh's first six years. 



Heading into the 2021 season, most analysts expected more of the same from Harbaugh and the Wolverines. With predictions ranging from 6-6 to 9-3, the general consensus was that Michigan was headed for another disappointing third-place finish within its own division - meaning more uncertainty for Harbaugh's future at the University of Michigan.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) on Wednesday reported a net loss of $4.9 billion for the year ending Sept. 30, narrowing its losses over the prior year.



USPS's operating revenue was $77 billion for the 2021 budget year, an increase of $3.9 billion, or 5.3%. It reported a 2020 net loss of $9.2 billion.



Postmaster Louis DeJoy in March announced a plan to cut $160 billion in predicted losses over the next decade. "We have years of inflicted damage to fix that will necessitate us taking some continued uncomfortable actions," DeJoy said on Wednesday.



USPS said shipping and packages revenue increased by $3.5 billion in 2021, or 12.2%, largely driven by the surge in e-commerce resulting from record holiday volume.



The 2020-2021 United States Postal Service crisis is a series of events that have caused backlogs and delays in the delivery of mail by the United States Postal Service (USPS). The crisis stems primarily from changes implemented by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy shortly after taking office in June 2020.

Louis DeJoy was sworn in as postmaster general on June 15, 2020; he is the first person since 1992 to assume the position without any prior experience in the United States Postal Service.



Hundreds of high-speed mail sorting machines were dismantled and removed from postal facilities,raising concerns that mailed ballots for the November 3 election might not reach election offices on time.[13] It was later explained that such machines are taken offline every year in response to diminishing volumes of letter mail, and that 671 of the machines (about 10 percent of the total) in 49 states had been slated for removal this year, 618 of them by August 1. After DeJoy's announcement that he would suspend his changes, the Postal Service's director of maintenance instructed employees that "they are not to reconnect/reinstall machines that have previously been disconnected without approval from HQ Maintenance, no matter what direction they are getting from their plant manager."



Mail collection boxes were removed from the streets in many cities. However, the Postal Service has been removing mail collection boxes as a cost-cutting measure for years — between 1985 and 2011, the number of mail collection boxes was reduced by 60% — so it remains unclear if the removals are connected to DeJoy's changes.After photos of boxes being removed were spread on social media, a Postal Service spokesman said they were being moved to higher-traffic that the removals would stop until after the election.



On August 18, after weeks of heavy criticism and the day after lawsuits against the Postal Service and DeJoy personally were filed in federal court by several individuals, DeJoy announced that he would suspend all the changes until after the November election, "to avoid even the appearance of any impact on election mail." He said he would reinstate overtime hours, roll back service reductions, and halt the removal of mail sorting machines and collection boxes.However, 95 percent of the mail sorting machines that were planned for removal had already been removed, and in testimony to the Senate, DeJoy expressed that he had no inte
