A few questions, how many times a day do you find yourself saying, I shouldn’t have to ask him? Or does he really not see the hamper next to his dirty underwear that is on the floor? Or maybe this, I shouldn’t have to tell him to put his dishes in the dishwasher! He has arms! I am going to take a wild guess and say, you ask or say these things to yourself or out loud repeatedly every day or at minimum, every week. I know, it is very frustrating when your husband just does not see it or do it on his own. Perhaps you are digging your heels in and thinking “I am not doing one more thing around here. I do too much as it is and he is a grown man. I work just as hard as he does so I am not telling him. Period.” Yep, I hear you, I see you, I am you (sort of).

Welcome sister! Today's conversation is not so much about our Catholic faith but you do need faith to do what I am asking. Here is my question for you, are you willing to ask your husband to take out the trash or whatever task you need done knowing that he will do so or are you going to simmer and stew because you shouln't have to ask him? If you answered no to the first questions and yes to the second one, listen up! This is a topic of conversation I have with almost every wife I counsel and as a wife myself, I 100% agree but here is the thing, the problem does not lie in the fact that you are asking him rather his response. His response says it all.
