Having spent over 50 years on the road, this professional touring musician has finally found a place he can call home. In a recent interview with Ashley Oakley on the Cody Wyoming podcast, The Man in Tan shared his remarkable journey, revealing the trials and tribulations that have led him to where he is today.
As COVID-19 ravaged the world, The Man in Tan found himself on a 72-show tour, hoping to make a living doing what he loves most. But fate had other plans, and the pandemic brought his tour to an abrupt halt, leaving him stranded in Colorado without any means of income. Desperate for work, he posted an ad on Facebook and was contacted by an old acquaintance who asked him to weld on their job site. It was a far cry from the glitz and glamour of the stage, but it was an honest living, and The Man in Tan was grateful for the opportunity.
Despite the difficulties brought on by the pandemic, The Man in Tan remained determined to keep his dream alive. He had made a vow to himself at a young age that he would never return to his home state of Arizona as long as he could make a living with his music. And yet, fate had a way of testing his resolve. Stranded in Arizona, The Man in Tan learned to read the universe, and he realized he was in a challenge section of his life. He made a deal with the universe that the first state to call him up would be the one he moved to and buried in. Soon after, his phone rang with a client from Wyoming asking him to do a show. It was a sign, and The Man in Tan knew that he had to follow it.
He finished out his two weeks in Arizona, sold his house in Colorado, made sure his family was taken care of, and moved to Wyoming. It was a fresh start, a chance to begin anew. And with his unwavering passion for music and the generosity of the people of Cody, The Man in Tan has found a place he can truly call home.
