America is opening back up. I hope not too soon. The last thing I want to do is go back to work and then turn around and have to return for more shelter in place. More important, I do not want to see innocent people have to perish because of opening up to soon. Regardless, it will be what it will be, and we will all have to persevere through our grief and fear. There is no simple answer to this crisis. Stay at home, and you save lives, but if you stay home, the economy is destroyed. I have always believed life is more important than any economy, because money can be regained but life once lost, is gone. I think some people can't relate to the potential peril because it has not touched them... yet.
Hopefully, our choice to open will prove to be less fatal than predicted.
This current pandemic reminds me of a science fiction plotline out of the twilight zone. In our reality, the invisible enemy does not discriminate. Wealth, age, color, race, ethnicity make little difference to this villain. If there is anything good to come from this pandemic, is that humans have been put on equal footing.
We are once again looking to our Creator for guidance. And our leaders, celebrities, and laypeople are praying to God for mercy, powerless in front of this invisible killer. Coronavirus has reminded all of us of freedom, life, solidarity, God, the nation, the other, and it has told us that we will all die one day. It has forced us to cherish what we have taken for granted throughout our lifetime. Whether this pandemic is a passing crisis or something that will linger for years to come, it is a time for us to take an inventory of our moral values and how we treat ourselves and each other.
