This movie is better than it has any right to be and that is because of Coolidge's confident direction and a cast and crew who worked incredibly hard to make this $350,000 budgeted movie a success. We love Valley Girl because it was supposed to be a stock 1980's stock sex comedy, but was turned into a thoughtful and romantic movie featuring a career making performance from an 18-year old Nicolas Cage.
