Dr. Ben Pennington discusses a series of questions taken from Genesis 6:1-8 regarding who were the sons of God and who were the daughters of men mentioned in the passage. Dr. Ben explains that there was a 400 year Intertestamental Period that spanned from the end of the Book of Malachi until the Gospel of Matthew when God was silent. During this period of time there were no prophets and there was no prophecy from God. Dr. Ben explains that during this period of silence from God the books of the Apocrypha (hidden things) and the Pseudepigraphal (false writing) books were written. None of the books were inspired by God and none of the books are included in our Bible. One of the Pseudepigraphal books, titled The Book of Enoch, which was not written by Enoch, claimed that the sons of God were fallen demonic angels that had sex with the daughters of men and produced a mutant race of Nephilim giants that were part-demon and part human. Dr. Ben states that this pagan superstition does not line up with scripture. In Genesis God made it clear that each species is able to reproduce according to their kind. Angels are spirit beings and are incapable of having sex and reproducing. Only God can produce life, not angels. The resurrected Jesus Christ told his disciples in Luke 24:39 the angels and spirits do not have flesh and blood.
The podcast also discusses the long life spans of humans before the flood and concluded that God destroyed the world by flood because of the wickedness of man. The podcast ends with Noah finding favor with God and being spared, along with his family, from the flood and destruction.
