Today on #coffeewithatherapist, we are talking about how we specifically build and rebuild trust with people over time after we've been hurt by them. For more on what trustworthiness is, please refer to my previous podcasts on the components of trust and trustworthiness.

For some people, they struggle with trusting others too fast, and others struggle to never trust a person ever. In this video, we talk about a visual and measurable(ish) way to build trust over time without it taking too long or being something that happens overnight. We also talk about what it may look like when big trust "deal breakers" happen, and determining what those are for you.

Learning to trust people is so incredibly worth it. Not just for others, but also for your own sanity and peace of mind.

If after watching this video, you realize that you are a person who trusts wayyyy too fast or never trusts people over time despite them showing you trustworthiness, I'd highly recommend that you work with a therapist on this because it's likely that you have some unresolved relationship trauma or hurt that in therapy, can be resolved. (Let me know if you need any help finding resources -- I've even helped people in other countries get connected to their local mental health resources).

Join me LIVE on coffee with a therapist on Facebook live Mon-Fri at 9:15 am CT or listen to it via the "Yellow Brick Therapy Podcast" (available on most podcasting platforms).
