Dr. Vitti speaks about establishing a teacher residency program, improving professional development opportunities, and providing state-of-the-art resources and tools to ensure the profession is an equitable career. He values teachers as the most important members within the District because of the direct impact they have on children.

16 FEB 2019 · Join Dr. Nikolai Vitti, Superintendent, Detroit Public Schools Community District, as he discusses the new Let’s Read initiative that focuses on student literacy and improving reading skills through community engagement. Designed to support struggling readers in grades K-3, Dr. Vitti shares how Let’s Read volunteers will collaborate closely with teachers and help students by reading with small groups and coordinating literacy exercises that strengthen reading skills.
