However, Nicholson was certainly a man of his time whose stern but fair governance gained him both fear and respect in equal measure from the various groups of people who lived under his rule. And his self-perceived importance and intimate relationship he boastfully claimed to have had with Emperor Jahangir. Although not much was achieved of this task, however his accounts of his stay in the Mughul Empire have provided a window into his correspondence with the Mughul Royal household and the Durbar.
